Elective physician Dr. Klaus EMMANUEL in the discussion with female colleagues -

Surgery for stomach and oesophageal cancer

There is hope.

The chance to heal patients diagnosed with cancer together with a team and to provide them with the highest possible quality of life after surgery led me to devote my energy to gastroesophageal cancer.

Operations on the esophagus and stomach represent one of the most most complex surgical challenges represent. In addition, these operations often mean significant changes in the Lifestyle habits of the patients. This great challenge has led me to complete my training as a visceral and thoracic surgeon at the Klinikum Rechts der Isar of the Technical University of Munich, one of the world's largest and most renowned centers for esophageal and gastric surgery, to complete.

Training at the highest level

In addition, the management of the Klinikum rechts der Isar was at that time under the direction of Dr. Siewert. Univ. Prof. Dr. Dr. h. c. mult. Jörg Rüdiger Siewert who was already one of the best-known and most renowned oesophageal and gastric surgeons worldwide. Univ. Prof. Dr. Dr. h. c. mult. Jörg Rüdiger Siewert established the classification of adenocarcinoma at the oesophagogastric junction, which was accepted by the UICC as a separate tumour entity. The so-called AEG classification of adenocarcinoma of the oesophagus according to Siewert has found its way into all textbooks and large, specialised clinics worldwide. During this time, my passion for oesophageal and gastric surgery was ignited and trained at the highest international level.
